#14 Virtual Meeting: Hoo Boy.

15 Aug

scaleI figured I’d regain some of the weight I lost when I was sick, but I sure didn’t expect to regain it this fast: +3.6 lbs.  No comment!  I knew that the weight I lost was just waiting until I felt better to return, but still, I didn’t expect them to come running this fast.

Still, it’s worth it to be feeling better.  I actually made it to the gym several times this week, though I still had to take it easy.

It’s more fun to talk about my husband, Joel, who has also been following Weight Watchers.  After months of going back and forth, he finally broke through the 75 lbs lost barrier, for a total of 76.2 lost!

The meeting this week was about cravings, and how to resist them.  Needless to say, I probably could have used this topic last week, but I was so sick it probably would have been lost on me.  I was so impressed by how wise everyone in the meeting was, and the insight they had into why they had cravings, and how to combat them.

I find boredom and availability are my two nemeses.  Then the little voice in my head starts peeping up, talking about one mini bar, or just a few bites of brownie.  HAH!  Little voice always lies.  Little voice might say just one cookie, but little voice will then say, “oh, you’ve lost it now.  Eat a dozen!”

Rebecca in my meeting talked about how she tried to redefine that point of no return: it doesn’t have to be after entering the cafe, or even ordering that pastry.  Even after eating a few bites, you can still put it down.

I try to stifle that little voice as early as I can with a bit ol’ NO.  If little voice doesn’t shut up, I picture the food in question as being nasty.  Greasy, junky, just not worth eating.

If I do decide to eat it, I focus on really enjoying it.  And then try not to kick myself.
