#13 Virtual Meeting: Crazy or Feverish? You Decide!

Posted in Weigh In, sick | No Comments »

Lost another .8 lbs!  Now at 178, for a total of 108.2 lost. I updated my About page with some new pix.

Losing weight when you’re sick seems like cheating.  I’ve been getting fevers at bed time the last few nights, and have been beat the rest of the time.  I decided it’s just something viral and rest will help.

Given how crappy I’ve felt, I actually thought I’d have lost more.  However, with not feeling well I am also not moving much.  As in at all.  Also, while I haven’t been very hungry, when I have eaten it’s often been cereal.  Not the worst thing to eat, not the best.

Can't they sell one or two of these even if autumn is 2 months away?

I tried to tell myself that I was feeling Really Great!  All in my Head!  today, and it worked, a little.  I was able to find some squirt guns for the kids, which is the kind of important thing I do after I’ve been laid up in bed for a week.

Silly me, didn’t realize it is no longer squirt gun season-never mind the temperature.  All the squirt guns have been scared away by back to school displays and scarecrows.

Yes, scarecrows.  You know, the kind you put outside your house to make it look like you’re the kind of person who buys kitchy scarecrows.  Now, I’m no marketing genius, but it seems to me that it makes sense to sell products that correlate somewhat with the season you’re in.  Because while I might be tempted to buy a kitchy scarecrow in September, not even I am crazy enough to buy one now in August.

I was going to put in a picture of an actual crow, but this random picture of Sheryl Crow is much more entertaining.

And do what with it?  Stash it in the closet for when I need a scarecrow?  Put it out now and pretend Halloween is right around the corner?  Because no one actually uses scarecrows for, well, scaring crows.  Crows are much too smart for that.

Maybe they are just scaring customers with it, warning us that summer is ending soon (nevermind we keep getting heatwaves in Northern CA until mid-Oct) and you’d better buy your number two pencils now because once school actually STARTS and you actually NEED pencils they’ll take those away, too.

They’ll be in the store’s storage for next year.  Next to the squirt guns.

Is It Starve a Cold, Feed a Fever?

Or is it the other way around?  Either way, I’m not eating much.  After a long meeting yesterday, I found myself shivering in bed.  That on top of the migrainepalooza I’ve been subject to lately I haven’t even been interested in food, and when I do manage to eat something I feel nauseated.

Needless to say, I don’t recommend getting sick as a weight loss strategy.  Tapeworms, also not good.  Lopping off limbs, bad bad bad.  Though I do recall telling friends a long time ago I lost 150 unwanted lbs overnight by breaking up with a boyfriend.

I don’t know if I should feel glad or not that I’m closing in on the 50 kilos down mark  under these circumstances.  I can say that reimagining my magic number has helped remove whatever was keeping me from straying far from the minus 100 mark.
