They want to tell a story and listen to someone say "yeah, that sucks... it's like this time when I..." Men complain because they want solutions. They say "I don't know why picking up the soup pot hurts." and they want to hear "because you need to use a potholder, dipstick." Thus, when women talk to men, neither of them is getting what they want. This tendency then, to talk to one's significant other... is what results in a lot of nights sleeping on the sofa.
