Food Find: Crunchy Curls

Trader Joe's Crunchy Curls
Trader Joe’s Crunchy Curls

Found a great new snack food at Trader Joe’s called Crunchy Curls.  They are made of Lentil flower and potatoes, are vegan/no gluten, and  31 curls (serving size shown) is 130 calories/2 points.

They are not very salty, and taste crunchy and beany-delicious with salsa.  The curly shape makes them more interesting than the usual chip.

They are definitely not as addictive as your usual chip, and taste a bit unusual, but the whole family liked them.  Let me know if you like them!

OMG is all I can say! I just found these last week at TJ’s, they have a potato, salty taste with a slight hint of pepper but none in the ingredients and only 2 points in a seving. I eat them right out of the bag, very dangerous. I am new to WW points, down 12 lbs in 5 weeks (yeay for me) at times portions are a challenge and these are no exception but I figure they are half the points for the same portion of potato chips so from that perspective it is a better choice. Two thumbs up! Thanks for the post. Enjoy! Christy O

Congrats on your weight loss! I’m so happy you’ve been successful. Don’t let these curls derail you, though… take the bag, measure out your servings. It’s too easy to lose track of what you’ve eaten otherwise.
    Good luck!

We just found these at our local TJ’s in Sherman Oaks, CA. I LOVE them. They have an unusual but very nice flavor. A little like Pringles, a little hint of lentil and not too bad at all health-wise.

    Are they fried or baked?

I’m not sure whether baked or fried, but they are lower in fat. I remember finding some “baked” banana chips at TJ’s that were nonetheless very high in fat because they were “baked” with a lot of fat. I love how the curls just make me smile!

The SF TJ’s have been sold out for weeks. I am desperate! I love them.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them in the East Bay, but I’ll check it out next time I’m there and will let you know (alas, going to TJ’s is a frequent event for us! I think I went 4x this weekend….)

I LOVE these Crunchy Curls and so does my Shih Tzu! They are crunchy and have a great flavor. The good part is the ingredients don’t include some of the allergens found so often in other foods that irritate canine skin (: We’re happy.

My local Trader Joe’s stopped carrying it for a while but I’ve now found it in another TJs. Yeah!
