Unsafe at Any Size

One of the things I enjoy is to find new, healthy recipes and try them out.  This week, I made this lovely Spelt and Winter Squash salad, in addition to my Moroccan Tagine and butternut squash soup.

All very healthy stuff.  But it’s possible to get too healthy.  In this case, all this squash is having an interesting side effect.

Yes, friends, I’m turning orange.  Just my palms now, but if I don’t stop I’m afraid all I’ll need is green hair to become an oompah loompah.

So remember: turning orange.  It’s not just from carrots.

I’ve decided to move my blog to a new site and identity:

Why?  I’m a little uncomfortable with continuing to use my tagline “Zaftig” and old site zaftiggirl.com.  That was my nickname on the BBW websites, IRC chats, etc back in the day.  The fat acceptance movement really helped me to accept myself and to live my life.  I created this site partially in homage to the support of that community to help me be myself.

But now I’ve lost over a hundred pounds, that identity doesn’t fit well anymore.  The bottom of me might be zaftig, but the top is downright deflated.  And while my old moniker reflected my pride in who I was, I’m not really comfortable being identified by my size in any way at the moment.

So now, I’m Unsafe at Any Size… come join me!

I have no template, no design, not even an About page.  But I’m not going to stop any of those glaring deficiencies from getting started.  The first post is always the hardest, anyway.
